State Revenue Up

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma's economy appears to be continuing its slow and steady recovery from the recession, State Treasurer Ken Miller said today as he issued revenue reports for December and the first half of the state's fiscal year.

Preliminary reports show General Revenue Fund collections in December are $454.5 million. That amount is:

$52.1 million or 13 percent above the prior year; and,
$18.9 million or 4.3 percent above the estimate.

Roads Better

Oklahoma City, OK – Winter weather affecting travel in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Winter weather has been affecting travel in much of Oklahoma, with two fatal accidents occurring on icy roadways in as many days.

A 66-year-old Sapulpa woman died Sunday when her car went off an icy road and into a pond in Tulsa County. And on Monday, a 68-year-old Muskogee man died after his pickup lost control on a bridge and slid off Interstate 40 near Henryetta and hit a tree.

Execution Tonight

McAlester, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma inmate is scheduled to be executed tonight at 6 p.m. Jeffery David Matthews' execution has been stayed three times. He was sentenced to death for the murder of his great uncle during a robbery in 1994.

Graham to Leave TU

Tulsa, Okla. – -- University of Tulsa Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham announced tonight the resignation of TU Head Football Coach Todd Graham. In a simultaneous announcement, University of Pittsburgh officials reported Graham has been named Head Football Coach of the Panthers. Graham will formally be introduced as the Pittsburgh coach at a news conference on Tuesday.

Call her "Governor Fallin"

Her husband holds the Bible as Mary Fallin becomes Governor

Oklahoma City, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Republican Mary Fallin is officially Oklahoma's first woman governor.

Fallin took the oath of office at noon Monday during a chilly ceremony on the south steps of the state Capitol. She became Oklahoma's 27th governor, replacing outgoing Democrat Brad Henry, who was term limited after eight years.

Tulsa, Ok – Sapulpa woman dies after accident on icy road

GLENPOOL, Okla. (AP) Authorities say a 66-year-old Sapulpa woman has drowned in a pond after an accident on an icy Tulsa County road.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Joyce Armstrong Leutz died in the accident southeast of Glenpool about 7:35 p.m. Sunday.

Troopers say Leutz's sport utility vehicle left the road, went through a fence and into a pond, where she drowned. It's not known how long Leutz was underwater.
