Suspected Murderer Indicted

Tulsa, Ok – Fed'l panel indicts Okla. man for killing Indian

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Prosecutors say a federal grand jury at Tulsa has indicted a man from Hominy on a charge of murdering an Indian in Indian Country.

A news release from the US attorney's office Wednesday said 48-year-old Steven Thompson Keeling was indicted on a charge of murdering Edward Brown at Brown's home in Leonard.

The slaying occurred on Jan. 17 at Brown's house on a restricted Indian allotment, or in terms of the law, in Indian Country.

Tulsa, OK – Rape charge against ex-ME's investigator dropped

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A court has dismissed a rape charge that was filed last year in Tulsa County against the former chief investigator for the state medical examiner's office.

Television station KOTV reported that the first-degree charge against Kevin Rowland was dismissed Wednesday.

Tulsa, OK – Body found in Lake Keystone in Osage County, Okla.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the body of a man who had been reported missing has been found in Lake Keystone in Osage County.

Troopers said the body of 19-year-old Blayne D. Davis of Tulsa was pulled from the lake Wednesday morning about 10 feet from the shore on the east side of U.S. Highway 412 in southern Osage County.

Property Tax Cap

Tulsa, OK – Each year your home's value is assessed. The state legislature wants to cap increases at three percent. Currently the cap is at five percent.

The head of the Oklahoma Policy Institute says the proposal is not well thought out. David Blatt says the plan could hurt more than it could help. He says school districts, health departments, libraries and technology centers could lose millions of dollars if the proposal is passed.

Tulsa Fire Fighters Lobby in OKC

Tulsa, OK – 120-Tulsa Fire fighters fill four buses and head to Oklahoma City to lobby state lawmakers. The fire-fighters are concerned about proposed changes to their pension plans.

Among those making the trip was Tulsa Fire Chief Allan LaCroix. He is concerned the changes will make recruiting more difficult.

Under the proposed changes, fire-fighters would have to work 25-years, rather than 20-years to get a pension.

Also, the legislature is looking at eliminating binding arbitration for police and fire unions.
