Supreme Court Side Steps Issue

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. Supreme Court denies constitutional challenge

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Supreme Court has rejected a constitutional challenge against the state's Judicial Nominating Commission.

The high court on Tuesday overruled claims in a lawsuit that challenged the makeup of the commission that nominates candidates to fill judicial vacancies.

The case could have affected some recent judicial appointments including at least one Supreme Court justice.

Revenue Is Up

Oklahoma City, OK –

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State finance officials say consumer spending jumped for the seventh month in a row in January, indicating Oklahomans are shaking off the effects of a long recession.

Office of State Finance Director Preston Doerflinger said Monday that collections by the state's general revenue fund last month are more than those from January 2010 by almost $80 million. He says collections also beat official estimates by almost $24 million.

Pot-Hole Problems

Tulsa, OK – The city of Tulsa is asking for your help in finding all the pot-holes in town. The City's Kim MacLeod says you can go to the city's website at cityoftulsa.org and report the problem areas. If you don't have a computer, you can call the Mayor's Action Center at 918-596-2100.

The pot-holes are a direct result of the freezing-thawing-and re-freezing of the city streets during the recent snow storms.

MacLeod says your help is important, because it is difficult for city crews to find all the pot-holes.
