Tulsa, Ok – Tulsa man found dead after standoff with police
TULSA, Okla. (AP) A defendant and key witness in a Tulsa murder case has been found dead after taking an 11-year-old girl hostage and an hours-long standoff with police.
Officer Leland Ashley says the body of Allen Shields was found inside a north Tulsa home about 12:50 a.m. Tuesday nearly an hour and a half after he released the girl unharmed. Ashley said Shields confronted the girl and her mother about 5:30 p.m. Monday but allowed the woman to leave.
Tulsa, OK – Earlier this afternoon, Tulsa County Commissioners passed a resolution today creating a burn ban in Tulsa County for the next seven days. After seven days, Tulsa County Commissioners will meet to assess the need for another seven-day burn ban.
Undated – Grass fires force evacuations in Guymon, Woodward
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) High winds are gusting throughout Oklahoma the morning after wildfires forced evacuations in Guymon and Woodward.
Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Michelann Ooten says homes on the south and west sides of Guymon were evacuated Sunday night because of a fire about six miles west of the Panhandle town. She says an unknown number of homes west of Guymon sustained damage.
