Wild Fires in Western Oklahoma

Altus, OK – Fire continues to burn in western Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A fire that injured two firefighters in western Oklahoma continues to burn.

Altus Emergency Management Director Lloyd Colston said Saturday that firefighters were still battling the blaze that began near Blair about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Jackson County Emergency Management director Jerry Gibson says two firefighters were injured but details of the injuries had not been released.

County Commissioner Karen Keith looks on as Mayor Bartlett announced plans to seek proposals for River development.

Tulsa, OK – Mayor Bartlett has issued a request for proposal for Arkansas Riverfront sites that will enhance economic development along the west bank of the river. The request includes approximately 88 acres assembled in four parcel sites located near 23rd St. and S. Jackson Ave.

Tulsa, OK – The Emergency Medical Service Authority now rolls a pink ambulance. It is to honor those who have been impacted by cancer. Judy Grove is the founder of Breast Impressions. She is supporting the pink patrol.

She says Tulsa is the nation's first community that has pink fire-trucks, police cars and now an ambulance.

HUD Grants

Oklahoma City, OK – HUD awards more than $770,000 to Oklahoma agencies

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary has awarded $770,246 in new grants to six homelessness programs in Oklahoma.

Secretary Shaun Donovan announced Thursday that the Continuum of Care grants are an investment in local projects that have never received HUD homeless funds in the past. Donovan says the funding will provide critically needed housing and support services to homeless individuals and families.
