Southern Oklahoma Hit by Storm

Oklahoma City, OK –

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A winter storm has dumped nearly 10 inches of snow on parts of southern Oklahoma.

According to the National Weather Service, preliminary snowfall amounts from Thursday's storm ranged from a trace in central Oklahoma to 9.2 inches around Madill in Marshall County. Other amounts included 3.5 inches in Ada, 5 inches in Durant, 6.5 inches in Carter County and 7 inches in Love County.

Poultry Trial Wrap Up Delayed

Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) Closing arguments in the state of Oklahoma's federal pollution lawsuit against the Arkansas poultry industry have been postponed a week after the judge became ill.

U.S. District Judge Gregory Frizzell has presided over the 51-day trial that has taken four months. He was set to hear the arguments Thursday morning.

Instead, closing arguments will be Feb. 18.

Mega Million Winner

Tulsa, OK – A Claremore man wins the first big prize from the new Mega Million lottery game.

Jeff Haff won a quarter of a million dollars. He got all five of the white ball numbers correct, but missed the mega ball number.

He plans to use the money to pay-off bills and to purchase a new pick-up.

Oklahoma City, OK – Corporation Commissioner dropping out of race

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An official with Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Jeff Cloud's campaign for U.S. Congress says Cloud is dropping out of the race.

Campaign consultant Pat McFerron said Wednesday that Cloud has a non-life-threatening health condition that has forced him to suspend his bid.

McFerron says Cloud will have to have surgery to remove sinus polyps, but that he will continue serving as a member of the Corporation Commission.

Oklahoma City, OK – Cline to review Medical Examiner's Office

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Brad Henry has asked state Health Commissioner Terry Cline to lead a top-to-bottom review of the embattled Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Henry announced Cline's appointment on Wednesday, less than a week after the state Board of Medicolegal Investigations, which administers the agency, fired the former chief medical examiner, Dr. Collie M. Trant. Trant was fired on Friday after less than a year on the job.
