Oklahoma City, OK – More are applying for Salvation Army jobs
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Salvation Army officials in Oklahoma City are seeing an increase in the number of people applying for jobs as bell ringers in the agency's annual Red Kettle campaign.
Spokeswoman Heidi Brandes says with the number of people out of work applications for the $7.25 an hour job ringing a bell is up 20 percent over previous years. The agency has 278 applications so far and is still taking them.
Tulsa, OK – Local housing starts reached their third-highest monthly total this year, with 249 new building permits issued in October, according to information released by permit-tracking service New Orders Weekly. This is a 36 percent increase over the 183 starts reported in September and 38 percent ahead of starts logged in October of 2008.
Picher, OK – PICHER, Okla. (AP) The director of the Picher Housing Authority is looking for ways to use more than $135,000 in federal stimulus money. Residents in the town are being bought out and officials never asked for the money but the federal stimulus package included money for every active housing authority in the nation.

Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) A memorial service is being planned for Nov. 30 for the Rev. Billy Joe Daugherty. Daugherty was the founding pastor of Victory Christian Center in Tulsa and died Sunday after a short battle with lymphoma. He was 57.
