Tulsa Inmate Dies

Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says a 31-year-old jail inmate has died.

Sgt. Shannon Clark says Damien Tucker died Friday after possibly going into cardiac arrest.

Clark says Tucker started feeling sick in his cell and contacted a detention officer for help. He says Tucker lost consciousness soon afterward and was taken to the jail's medical unit.

Clark says Tucker was then transported by ambulance to Hillcrest Medical Center, where he later died.

Sunshine Week Awards

Oklahoma City, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) FOI Oklahoma has honored the Tulsa World and Kristy Yager of the City of Oklahoma City for their commitment to freedom of information and openness in government.

The organization presented the Ben Blackstock Award to the Tulsa World Saturday for the newspaper's nearly decade-long effort to gain access to computerized records from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety. Yager was given the Sunshine Award for working to provide useful information to the public.

Helicopter Crash Update

Tahlequah, OK – Autopsy found meth in system of helicopter pilot

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The state Medical Examiner's Office says a helicopter pilot had methamphetamine and a painkiller in his system when he crashed in October killing himself and a passenger.

Medical examiner's spokeswoman Cherokee Ballard said Friday the drugs were confirmed in the liver and brain of 26-year-old Mark Mahaney. Mahaney and 20-year-old Darci Scraper died when the helicopter crashed in a field near Tahlequah on Oct. 14.

I-44 Delays

Tulsa, OK – As part of the scheduled plans for the bridge replacements at the I-44/161st E. Ave. junction, the left lane of east and westbound I-44 will be closed at the 161st E. Ave. junction from midnight Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday. Additionally, all lanes of 165th E. Ave. underneath I-44 will be closed as part of this project.

H1N1 is Back

Oklahoma City, OK – Delaware Co. girl latest swine flu death

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State health officials say an adolescent female has become the latest Oklahoman to die of complications from swine flu.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported Thursday that the Delaware County girl died in late February.

Health officials say an elderly Comanche County man died of Type A influenza, but it wasn't immediately known if the virus was swine-origin influenza A, or H1N1.
