Tulsa, OK –

OKLAHOMA CITY - Revenue collections for Fiscal Year 2010 showed the biggest decrease in state history, State Treasurer Scott Meacham said today as reports on collections for the year were released. However, Meacham said the news is not all bad. "While the global recession hit Oklahoma very hard during the recently completed fiscal year, all signs point toward better times ahead."

Preliminary reports show General Revenue Fund collections for Fiscal Year 2010 were $4.6 billion. That amount is:

Mayor and Council Spat

Tulsa, OK – The Council is upset the Mayor has not spent money it ordered when it overrode his veto. Councilor Jack Henderson wants the street lights back on now. A man was killed on a darken section of the I-D-L. The Mayor however, contends he can't spend money that he isn't sure will materialize.

Skiatook School Update

Tulsa, OK – Skiatook board accepts president's resignation

SKIATOOK, Okla. (AP) In the wake of a critical grand jury report, Skiatook's school board has reorganized after accepting the resignation of its president.

Kenneth Cooper, who had been on the board for seven years, announced his resignation earlier this month after a grand jury indicted the school's former superintendent for embezzlement and bribery and said Cooper should be removed from office.

TU Football Luncheon

Tulsa, OK – The 2010 Tulsa football team will be introduced to the public

Tulsa, Oklahoma -- The Annual Golden Hurricane Football Kickoff Luncheon, sponsored by the Tulsa Metro Chamber and The University of Tulsa, is set for Thursday, August 19th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Tulsa.

The luncheon will begin at 12 noon as the 2010 version of the Golden Hurricane football team will be introduced to the public.

Tulsa Zoo Renovations

Tulsa, OK – We now know the price tag for the renovated giraffe barn at the Tulsa Zoo. The renovation will cost 170-thousand dollars.

It will included heated floors and a news roof and insulation.

This follows the death of a giraffe from hypothermia last winter.

PLANiTULSA Moves Forward

PLANiTULSA

Tulsa, OK – The proposed new comprehensive plan for the city of Tulsa is turned over to Tulsa City Council for adoption.

The Tulsa Planning Commission signs off on the PLANiTULSA new comprehensive plan. The plan comes at a time when Tulsa is losing population. Planner John Fregonese says there is no need to panic. He says Dallas was also losing population until a new plan was adopted there. Since then, Dallas has grown by 82,000.

The plan will serve as a blue-print for Tulsa's future growth.

Getting Tough on Vacant Property Owners

Tulsa, Ok – The head of Tulsa Community Development wants to get tough on owners of vacant houses. Dwain Midget says vacant houses leads to vacant neighborhoods.

Midget wants to create a vacant structure registry that would force owners to maintain vacant property or face stiff fines.
