Pot Field Found Near Enid

Enid, OK – Okla. authorities destroy uncultivated marijuana

ENID, Okla. (AP) Garfield County authorities are destroying uncultivated marijuana plants found growing wild.

Lt. Shon Jackson told the Enid News & Eagle that the plants were sprayed with a herbicide and red dye Tuesday afternoon. The dye is to warn anyone who comes across the plants that they have been sprayed with herbicide.

Plane Crash near Tulsa

Tulsa Fire Fighters responded to the plane crash scene in Creek County.

Tulsa, OK – Emergency units rushed the scene of a small plane crash southwest of Tulsa.

The crash happened in the 7800 Block of 41st West Avenue in Creek County.

That is roughly four miles west of the Jones Riverside Airport. KWGS' Denise Brewer was on the scene. She reported the injuries were minor. The two passengers, a Spartan student and instructor, were taken to St-Francis Hospital. They are 28 and 26 years old. They suffered minor burns. Both walked away from the crash.

WASHINGTON (AP) Federal safety investigators say a tractor-trailer truck driver who slammed his rig into a line of cars stopped on a stretch of Oklahoma highway last year, killing 10 people, was likely suffering from fatigue.

Tulsa, OK – Stillwater mayor faces computer crimes charge

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) Stillwater Mayor Nathan Bates is accused of using his city computer to try to win a public grant for the company he owns.

A felony indictment unsealed Monday accuses the 28-year-old Bates of using his official computer and e-mail account to help obtain a $5,000 grant for his company, Icon Properties. The indictment in Payne County District Court alleges that Bates violated Oklahoma's Computer Crimes Act.

Teachers Sue District

Norman, OK – Teachers suing Norman school district

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) The Norman school district is being sued by nine teachers over the withholding of $355.12 in taxes from a $5,000 bonus they received.

The state provides the bonus to National Board certified teachers. The money is sent to the districts to pay the teachers.

The state has in the past included funding to pay the tax but this year did not. The district withheld the tax from the bonus.

Oklahoma City, OK – Guthrie man claims $200,000 lottery prize

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Mowing the lawn may have just gotten a little easier for a Guthrie man.

Charles Anderson has claimed a winning $200,000 Powerball ticket from the Sept. 22 drawing and says he'll pay off his debts and maybe buy a riding lawn mower.

The lottery commission announced Monday that Anderson has claimed the prize after matching all five white balls in last Wednesday's drawing.
