When individuals learn to read and write, they have the power to lift themselves out of poverty, lower health care costs, find work, and, ultimately, change their lives. About 14 percent of adults right here in Tulsa Country can't read. You can change that by volunteering as a literacy tutor. Tulsa City-County Library offers free tutoring to adults who want to improve their reading, writing, or spelling skills. Right now there are 40 adults who need tutors. Please volunteer to help one of your Tulsa neighbors learn to ready, call 918-54907400 or go to www.tulsalibrary.org/literacy for more information. Help others, help themselves.
